A Tribute to Marty Mouse

www.martymousehouse.com

It was a year ago today (11/20) that Marty opened his Heaben divison of Internashunal Bizness. I’m so thankful to have had him here on earth for the time I did. We had so many fun adventures together. Love, laughter and snacks. I know many of you loved him as your own. His journey wouldn’t have been the same without all of you. I’ve heard so many times how he changed your minds about rats, or made you smile on dark days. I am thankful he found an Internet connection from Heaben, so we can still hear from him. He is always watching, helping and sending his love. He is busy passing out starberry shakes to the new arrivals up there. Marty was always happy and wanted us to be too. So with that in mind, I made a little tribute for him to celebrate his life. Hopefully it will make you happy too. – MM

If Marty has made a difference in your life, please comment! (it is a little long, clocking in at just under ten minutes, but I could have easily made it five times longer…)

Your video made me cry, I can’t forget Marty. He was a sunbeam in our life.
Marty is the proof of love; for me my rats are my life and are my family and I know how marty was important in your life, how much he mattered. They are so small beings but they take up so much space in our hearts <3
Your page is one of the first pages I fb followed.
Thank you Marty for have existed and made our lives more beautiful and thanks to your mom for shared your life with us <3

I found your site after Marty had started his Heaben divison of Internashunal Bizness, but am in love with him, and Milo, Fibbs and Wimbley. Your site is the first I look at every day! It ALWAYS makes me smile, and I find when I see certain words now, I tend to fink of them in “marty’s vocabulary”. I am owned by 5 rats, they are the most incredible (and hugely underrated) pets eber :o) Fank you, Marty’s Mom, for giving them a voice, and a platform! Regards, from Blaze, Poofhead, Scout, Sleepy Pete & Zeke’s Mom

I have loved following your adbentures with Marty and his ‘minions’. This retrospective brought a smile to my heart and a tear to my eye. You have an amazing ability to capture these sweet creatures and insert them into our lives. I look forward to your posts more than I can say.

My BigSillies (the original Mr.Speedy, Midnight & Lefteye), gained their fame through yahoo’s ratlist and then on Flickr. Before FaceBook became the place to be. After they all moved on I lost my drive to maintain the interest in them (though some does still go on 10 years later).

It always made me happy to think that Marty picked up where they left off and soared so high with it. I’m sure they all had a huge party when he arrived @ The Bridge :).

Thank you for carrying on in the greatest BigSillies tradition.

Oh Marty, I am going to miss being able to see your adventures. I am so glad your “minions” will continue your traditions. My babies that have moved on are visiting with you now: Rory, Percy and Livvie. My other babies: Mack, Tamsin, Dora, Henry, Ruby, Iris, and Oliver send their love and cuteness to you and your mom and dad.

My friends’ son used to spend the night at my house once a week. He LOVED Marty’s videos, and we would watch them together instead of a bedtime story. His favorite was Marty Tackles the Noms, but Marty’s Happy Dance remains my fave!
Marty’s time with you more than made up for the lonely time he spent at the pet store.

What a deeply moving tribute! I used to think that Marty was a superlatively photogenic rat, but looking at your pictures of Milo, Wimbley, and Fibbs, I begin to suspect that the photographers are due some credit, as well, lol! But in any case it is clear that Marty was a very special rat, and it is such a shame that he is no longer with us. I’m very glad, though, that you have found a way to keep his memory alive and continue his mission. Milo, Wimbley, and Fibbs are worthy successors as rat ambassadors to the world.

It’s hard to talk about how wonderful rats are–there just aren’t enough superlatives in the language. Fortunately, there is this site to convey some of the love and joy that rats bring to the lives of their owners. I’m sure that people who have never known rats before who happen across this site must leave with a new appreciation for these special little animals. And those of us who love rats can also come and know that others, too, understand just how big an effect these little creatures can have on a heart willing to open to them. Thank you so much for being here.

I loved Marty and his posts. I shared so many with people who did not like rats, I know those posts changed a few minds about the” Awesomeness” of rats. Marty was a great ambassador. He was a small rat with a very “BIG” heart <:3~~

It’s now been 2 years since Marty left us. I still miss him like crazy and think about him often. His picture still hangs by my bedside and his cute little face smiles at me from the calendars and refrigerator magnets and pillows. I love you to the moon and back Marty. Today, tomorrow and forever♡♡
